Goodreads asked Jacquelyn Mitchard:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Jacquelyn Mitchard Oh, it may be a cliche, but read more. READ MORE, and try to write one good book before you plan a trilogy or something. Serials are the thing now, but think about writing before you think about publishing. It's difficult; a book is not completed until it's read. Try to stay in the story, though, and not think about its future, just as you're not thinking about your baby being a partner in a law firm (I hope) when she's learning to walk.
