I spent hours rooting for this man and marveling at his resilience and resourcefulness only to be let down at the end by his complete selfishness.

He essentially took this woman's life away from her and then he abandoned her in a new Country. Yes, he set her up financially, and yes, she was running from her own (ridiculous) secrets, but this completely changed the character for me. He went from a sympathetic protagonist to a self-serving villain. I felt violated by his betrayal.

It's really too bad, as a couple of lines in the final chapter could have changed my entire outlook on this book and left me hungry for more from Perry.(less)
