Rex As someone who has read - and loved - both books, I highly recommend reading The Girl first. You will miss out on a lot of interesting details if you start with The Boy. However, I consider it a companion more than a sequel.
Hayley Orgill After seeing a q&a session with the author, he referred to it as a prequel, equal, sequel. After reading both I understand why and how it all fits together.
Angel Hench This book is set in the same "universe" as The Girl With All the Gifts, but you do not need to read it to enjoy this book. I have not read TGWATG, and I still thoroughly enjoyed this book (received the ARC).
Helen It tells the story of how "Rosie" - the mobile lab - came to be unmanned - So it is set before TGWATG, but it explains itself so well you could read it first if you wanted...
Andrew Scott It's not a sequel. It's a prequel that covers the events of something that's talked about in The Girl with all the Gifts, but is supposedly a standalone story and you don't have to have read The Girl with all the Gifts to understand anything in this novel.
Ellen It's both a prequel and has a future epilogue. I would highly recommend reading The Girl with All the Gifts first. I think some things in The Girl would be not as exciting if you read this one prior.

You could certainly read this as a stand-alone book though, but I liked The Girl with All the Gifts better.
Michael Brooks It's a prequel/sequel but deals with different characters for the most part.

Btw, I didn't even realize there's a sequel to TGWATG. I might pick TBOTB for summer session.

Thanks Gyu! ;)
