Does this book stand on its own, or am I better off starting at the beginning of the series?

Greg Chesser While there are references to previous books, everything is explained so that it can stand alone. You can read them in any order.
Larry I disagree with Greg a bit - the characters are developed gradually over the course of the "Harry Bosch Series" including the Mickey Haller novels. But the Haller books might stand on their own if taken in order, starting with The Lincoln Lawyer.
Milo Paulus The only books I've read of Connely are this one and The Brass Verdict (aka middle entries) and I've adored both a lot. Certainly didn't think I was missing out.
