Oh by the way (we've recently been discussing processes for these group reads), it's fine to vote for a book you've already read... just be sure to come back in June to discuss it, so your vote doesn't skew the results.

No damn cat. No damn cradle.
It was kind of bizarre...but in a good way. Read that and The Sirens of Titan once over a long weekend and still don't think I've quite recovered. :\
Voted for Human.4 since of all the books I've not read on the list, this one looked the most appealing.

I literally read this book a few days ago. It was a group read for another book club I'm in. :)
It's my favorite by Vonnegut, so cool if it wins, and I'm completely prepared to discuss it. But obviously, I didn't vote for it.
I voted for The Return Man, but I'll read whatever gets picked. I guess that is part of the reason I am IN book clubs with group reads, I can ALWAYS choose my own book but you guys often pick stuff that makes me branch out.
Man, watching this poll is like watching a horse race! This one is ahead, not that one, no wait...I read Cat's Cradle ages ago but can't remember anything about it. I always find Vonnegut's books to be both bizarrely intriguing and frustratingly enigmatic. Same with Tom Robbins.
I wonder though... reading something in your 20's versus 40's... must be a different experience.
Anyhoo, lots of good choices this month, I'll be happy with any of them in a way; I'm beginning to learn that sometimes an interesting discussion can compensate for a disappointing book.
I've read both Cinder and Ready Player One. Ready Player One was amazing. One of the best books I read last year. But I hope Girl Under Glass wins!
Lumpenprole wrote: "No damn cat. No damn cradle."But it has something to do with the string game cat's cradle, doesn't it? I read it back in high school (yes, for class, IIRC). I'll have to reread it if it wins.

LOL. I've been meaning to re-read this since I handed it to my wife a year or so ago and said "you should try this" :) Though I think I'll find an e-copy as I don't want to have to sort all the pages - my old paperback is now a "loose leaf"!
But I'm in on this one - I'm prepared to read any of them. I don't know whether it would be a good thing or a bad thing if Ready Player One wins - since it looks like that's our next read in the Chaos Reading group.
I'm currently reading 'Cat's Cradle' (and thoroughly enjoying it thus far) but voted for 'Ready Player One' as it's been on my bookshelf for nearly a year now.
I'm currently listening to Ready Player One. Loving this book, but I have no idea if it's because of the book itself (it IS really good) or just because I'm swooning over Wil Wheaton as narrator! Even if this book doesn't win, I recommend it to all geeks, '80 fans, video game lovers, Wil Wheaton fans, etc.
I'm rooting for Ready Player One now since all the Cat's Cradle people were like, "Yeah, that's a good one but I didn't vote for it."
When does voting end? I wouldn't mind if Gertie assigned the top three books as the next three group reads. They are all tied at this point.
Too funny, this is a first! We'll do Cinder, then Ready Player One, then Girl Under Glass. After that we'll do a fresh poll, possibly nominations as well.
I'm kind of delighted that the month you were going to put the top few non-winners in the next poll is also the month with our first tie.I'm also delighted that Girl Under Glass is one of the winners! Though I wish it was sooner :-P
Just by someone in the group deciding they want to nominate it. We don't allow self-nominations since they would flood the pool. We used to occasionally do club reads where the nominations came only from the authors; an approach most members seemed to tolerate but not particularly enjoy so I don't think we will be doing that for a while. :-(

I will take the top "losers" of this poll (3-5 of those with the most votes) and use them for the next poll, and I may add in a couple other good candidates. We'll probably do nominations again for the August read. This is for simplicity (and to save folks from re-nominating the same books over and over) but we'll still do nominations around every other month to keep the options fresh.
