Pat Bane You make this hard I love D. Jordan Redhawk but I need my crazy Saxon right now.

message 2: by f (new)

f It's really hard! Maybe people should say why they think we should vote for each book, because some of these I've not heard of at all.

message 3: by Cheri (new)

Cheri I haven't read any of them beside the Redhawk books. I'm reading Iditarod now and have read the online version of Tiopa Ki Lakota and will be reading the published version shortly.

The thing I'll say about Redhawk's books - the two that I've read anyway - is that it's obvious that she does a lot of research. Have I come across some issues, sure, but I've read first drafts of published, or soon to be published, books so you've got to expect some of that.

I've been moved by both books listed here and definitely recommend them.

message 4: by Pat (new)

Pat Bane In the Unlikely Event is the third in a series of books by Saxon Bennett.
She has a crazy sense of humor. I probably should have nominated A Family Affair which is the first in the series. I have admit I never heard of Hungry for it.

message 5: by Baxter Clare (new)

Baxter Clare Trautman Nice choices!

message 6: by Cari (new)

Cari Hunter I've gone for the one I have no idea how to pronounce. Am I being lazy because there's an online version and we can easily take it on holiday with us? Possibly... ;-)

message 7: by Alena (new)

Alena I suggested Lemon Reef, since it sounded like summer. I read both Snowbound and Iditarod on very hot days and I think it would be nice to read about some diving for a change.

message 8: by Alena (new)

Alena I read Family Affair and it was a very funny book. I am planning on reading the two sequels soon. Great suggestion!

message 9: by Alena (new)

Alena And I also want to read Hungry For It. Damn!

message 10: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Well Im all for Hungry For It. And I know NJ wants it too.

message 11: by Jenny (new)

Jenny I don't have a reason besides it just sounds saucy!

message 12: by Pat (new)

Pat Bane Cheri is Tiopa Ki Lakota still available on line. If so where?

message 13: by Cheri (new)

Cheri You can read it on Redhawk's site: http://www.djordanredhawk.net/online-...

or if you have an ereader, I have a compiled copy. I thought it was on PDAFiction.com, but it's not. Iditarod is though.

message 14: by Nikki (new)

Nikki I'm trying again to get Greetings from Jamaica, because it's supposed to be hilarious. I'm in the mood for hilarity!

message 15: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Id be happy with that too even though I already read it. I thought it was good and funny.

message 16: by f (new)

f I've read Lemon Reef and Hood. Who was it who said in this forum that they were tired of girl-meets-girl happy-ever-afters? Whoever it was, these two are for you.

Lemon Reef: heroine investigates the violent untimely death of the ex-girlfriend whose life went majorly to shit after their bitter break-up. There's a lot to admire in Lemon Reef, but cheerful it really ain't.

Hood: heroine has to patch up her life and re-evaluate her identity after the sudden untimely death of her partner (given that society in general didn't know they were partners at all, hence the silent "widow"-hood of the title.) It's more cheerful than it sounds... I know it's not going to win Book of the Month but I nominated it to remind myself to re-read it.

message 17: by nancyjean (new)

nancyjean I put up Blessed Twice because I love, love, love Lynn Galli and although that's the third of a linked series, it can stand alone and the character M is a little different. It's also in places very funny, and tender. I would buddy read this in a minute.

But I voted for Hungry For It, which I pitched on the forum with "buy it for the sex. Enjoy it for the assassin-cousin, mystery, family issues, and yes love story."

Fiona Zedde's novel is about Remi, a night-club owner in Miami who is something of a player. She's also been in love since her teen years with her best friend's mother, Claudia. (I'll save you the arithmetic: Remi is 27 years old and Claudia is 49). This story is set mainly within the black gay community, with secondary characters from many kinds of backgrounds.... including the fabulous Italian-Japanese Nakamura sisters.

This is one sexy book... we're talking a room full of toys, not just one drawer... But even if you took out all the sex you still how a great story, imo. I was really invested in Remi's and Claudia's future. I'll save my questions for an actual discussion. I'll happily talk about this on a buddy read, too.

message 18: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Hopefully it will be BotM. I have wanted to read it ever since NJ brought it up.

message 19: by Alena (new)

Alena Ok, ok, changing my vote. Tiopa is still in the lead though...

Lemon Reef: heroine investigates..."

That would be me!

Wanna do a heartbreak read along next month?

message 21: by nancyjean (new)

nancyjean We should do a Month of Angst at some point.

message 22: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Yeah we should!

Sure, I was planning to re-read Hood in September anyway.

message 24: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Groovy!

message 25: by Jenny (new)

Jenny I thought I read somewhere that there was a story before Hungry For It that was kinda like a prequel but you don't have to read them in order. Nancyjean do you know anything about that?

message 26: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Come on, Jamaica, you can do it!

message 27: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Jamica can do it next time.lol Hungry ,Hungry, Hungry!!

message 28: by Jenny (new)

Jenny That would be crazy if there was a three way , in the voting i mean, haha

message 29: by Nikki (new)

Nikki No way it got screwed out of first place last time! Come on,.Jamaica!

message 30: by nancyjean (new)

nancyjean Jenny, A Taste of Sin is set before Hungry For It, and it is about Dez, Claudia's daughter and Remi's best friend. It is not an ebook; in fact, it's the only paperback I've purchased since buying a kindle, because I just had to read it. You don't need to read it first to enjoy Hungry For It, although I wonder if those who do would feel differently about Remi and Claudia's relationship.

message 31: by nancyjean (new)

nancyjean I almost want a tie, so that if people hate Hungry For It, at least they can enjoy the other book. Eep.

message 32: by f (new)

f You got your tie, NJ! Everyone happy. Except maybe Nikki...

message 33: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Ferox wrote: "You got your tie, NJ! Everyone happy. Except maybe Nikki..."

Blast! I'll just read it anyway, in between sad stories

message 34: by f (new)

f Maybe it can win next month (is there a limit to the number of times a book can be nominated?)

message 35: by Cheri (new)

Cheri Nope, no limits.

message 36: by Jenny (last edited Sep 01, 2012 09:58AM) (new)

Jenny Well Nikki if it is in the poll next month I promise to vote for it no matter what. I would love for that book win next month. I was kinda hoping it would be a three way tie this month.

message 37: by Gloria (last edited Sep 02, 2012 09:58AM) (new)

Gloria I have already read D.Jordan Redhawk's novels, many times...Where are the rest located, URL's? Are any free online or are all published paid works?

From an avid reader with no funds...:)

message 38: by f (new)

f I think the D Jordan Redhawk ones are the only ones (legally) available free online (but correct me if I'm wrong, anyone)

message 39: by Cheri (new)

Cheri I've been finding that the selection of ebooks available from local libraries has increased tremendously over the past year or so. You may be able to find some of them there, Gloria.
