Poll
This is the poll to select the September BotM. Voting will go through 8/31.
One selection is not a published book, it's in the works but hasn't happened yet, but an online work.

The thing I'll say about Redhawk's books - the two that I've read anyway - is that it's obvious that she does a lot of research. Have I come across some issues, sure, but I've read first drafts of published, or soon to be published, books so you've got to expect some of that.
I've been moved by both books listed here and definitely recommend them.

She has a crazy sense of humor. I probably should have nominated A Family Affair which is the first in the series. I have admit I never heard of Hungry for it.

or if you have an ereader, I have a compiled copy. I thought it was on PDAFiction.com, but it's not. Iditarod is though.

Lemon Reef: heroine investigates the violent untimely death of the ex-girlfriend whose life went majorly to shit after their bitter break-up. There's a lot to admire in Lemon Reef, but cheerful it really ain't.
Hood: heroine has to patch up her life and re-evaluate her identity after the sudden untimely death of her partner (given that society in general didn't know they were partners at all, hence the silent "widow"-hood of the title.) It's more cheerful than it sounds... I know it's not going to win Book of the Month but I nominated it to remind myself to re-read it.

But I voted for Hungry For It, which I pitched on the forum with "buy it for the sex. Enjoy it for the assassin-cousin, mystery, family issues, and yes love story."
Fiona Zedde's novel is about Remi, a night-club owner in Miami who is something of a player. She's also been in love since her teen years with her best friend's mother, Claudia. (I'll save you the arithmetic: Remi is 27 years old and Claudia is 49). This story is set mainly within the black gay community, with secondary characters from many kinds of backgrounds.... including the fabulous Italian-Japanese Nakamura sisters.
This is one sexy book... we're talking a room full of toys, not just one drawer... But even if you took out all the sex you still how a great story, imo. I was really invested in Remi's and Claudia's future. I'll save my questions for an actual discussion. I'll happily talk about this on a buddy read, too.

Lemon Reef: heroine investigates..."
That would be me!
Wanna do a heartbreak read along next month?

"
Sure, I was planning to re-read Hood in September anyway.

Blast! I'll just read it anyway, in between sad stories
