message 1: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Though it does depend on the book.

message 2: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl totally depends on the book

message 3: by Jeremiah (new)

Jeremiah I am pretty quick, on my days off I can read a book or two in an 8 hour window.

message 4: by Ingemar (new)

Ingemar I find it hard to concentrate for very long periods of time. Besides, I like stopping every so often to think about what I just read, the last scene.

message 5: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl I need to *make* myself do that more often, Ingemar. Thanks for reminding me.

message 6: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Kerr I don't know why, but I timed how long it took me to read one page in a book, and on average it's 2 minutes... I'm a relatively slow reader, so this would take me about 10 hours...

Eyehavenofilter For me it would be about 4.5 hours if I wanted to really get through it fast. Not that I'd remember much , a week or 2 later but 5.5 if I wanted to savor it and enjoy it more and at least recall something!

message 8: by Ingemar (new)

Ingemar it would take me 2 weeks

message 9: by Ingemar (new)

Ingemar 2 weeks or more if i don´t have much time

message 10: by Ellese (new)

Ellese I can't read nonstop...but I do read for long periods of time...I finished the host reading it for several hours over 2 days and that is like...yeah.

message 11: by Paul (new)

Paul I can't read non-stop either, but judging from the pace I read from page to page, it would probably take around 10 to 12 hours.

message 12: by Katka (new)

Katka Not voting - it depends on the book and the language.

message 13: by Petra (new)

Petra I'm 13 so I do read a little slower and it really depends on the book but if its a good one I'm interested in, 4 hours.

message 14: by Alex (new)

Alex Definitely over 12 hours.... yeah I'm a slow reader... each hunger games book took me about 3 days with a total of probably 5-6 hours each day.

message 15: by Mony (new)

Mony over 12 hours .. because English isn't my native language and and it totally depends on the book and how mush free time i have and lately i don't have mush .. school and work .. so yeah it sucks .

message 16: by Mony (new)

Mony over 12 hours .. because English isn't my native language and and it totally depends on the book and how mush free time i have and lately i don't have mush .. school and work .. so yeah it sucks .

message 17: by Karolina (new)

Karolina Ong definitely 3-6 hours. unless the book doesnt hook me in and I'll simply bring it around and force myself to finish it

message 18: by PinkPanthress (new)

PinkPanthress Despite my vote, I would say that it really depends on what I am reading...

message 19: by J. (new)

J. Totally depends on the book, but an average of a page a minute for me, so 3-6 hours.

message 20: by Lostshadows (new)

Lostshadows The times I've done it, 1-3 hours. Books that don't pull me in like that would probably take longer.

message 21: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Huskey Most books, probably about 6-7 hours. If it's written James Patterson style, more like 4.

message 22: by Irina (new)

Irina If it's about a book I really like, then I want to savor it but I also read it nonstop. I would probably finish it in 8-9 hours.

message 23: by Becs (new)

Becs 6 hours or so. But it really depends on the book. If the book is not as absorbing my mind may wonder for a bit even though I haven't put the book down.

message 24: by Sabrina Conza (new)

Sabrina Conza definitely depends on the book.

message 25: by Victor (new)

Victor Only bad thing is that I don't read nonstop:/

message 26: by Erica (new)

Erica Not the quickest. But it really depends on the book. Some are just easier to read others more interesting than some.

message 27: by Lars (new)

Lars Depends on the book and the language.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

If it has great descriptions I may want to read them over and over to savor them and that takes longer.

message 29: by Lowri (new)

Lowri Nicholson I suppose it would take me less time if I didn't get distracted by other tech like my phone ... If I didn't have school I would sit outside reading until it was dark ... Then I'd come in and read!

message 30: by Aryana (new)

Aryana Reyes it depends on the book

message 31: by Ghel (new)

Ghel I totally agree with the others, it depends on the book.

message 32: by Empress (new)

Empress Aryana wrote: "it depends on the book"

And the language. [native or not]

message 33: by Tefanie (new)

Tefanie I'm a fast reader so if I read a 300-page book nonstop, it will probably take me around 4 hours or so to finish.
I also agree with others that it depends on the books. Some books are easy and light to read; 150-page chick-lits usually take me around 2 hours. Other books require more attention; reading The Hunger Games book took me one whole afternoon, the classics require a whole day, Dan Brown-style books require more. You get the idea.
Sometimes, if I love the book so much, I read them slowly to savor each scene. The Harry Potter books took me a week or two each. Record goes to the HP and the Order of the Phoenix: I finished it in one month. LOL

message 34: by Robyn (new)

Robyn It really depends on the book

message 35: by Sealove (new)

Sealove It really depends on the book… Some of them we blaze through because they're so exciting, some of them we take our time because they are so good.

And of course, setting makes a difference too… When we have peace and quiet, anything goes.

Great Poll!

message 36: by Cleo (new)

Cleo This totally does depend on the book; if it's Dickens, it'll take much longer than a middle grade novel.

message 37: by Easton (new)

Easton and if its Shakespeare, your have to go to a dictionary a lot.

message 38: by Karen (new)

Karen It really depends on the book - some authors are easier to read than others....

Mary Elizabeth 3-4 hours roughly. I only know this because I use to have one of those bookmarks that had a built-in timer.

message 40: by Dilla (new)

Dilla Nanditya Are you kidding? I started to read the Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare and finished it in the midnight. I'm not awesome, I was just got insomnia.

message 41: by Shankia (new)

Shankia Tinsley Ingemar wrote: "I find it hard to concentrate for very long periods of time. Besides, I like stopping every so often to think about what I just read, the last scene."

That's definitely me. I find myself getting a little restless after a short while of reading. I too like to stop and think about what I have read.

Star Shining Forever 3-6 hours, like most of the voters ;-)

message 43: by Nadya (new)

Nadya Irsalina it actually depends on the language too. if the book was written in bahasa indonesia, i need like 3 hours or eveb less. but for the english one, it takes me longer than that. but yeah probably 3-6hours. :-)

message 44: by Emme (new)

Emme Melanie wrote: "Though it does depend on the book."

Yes. Yes it does.

message 45: by Julia (new)

Julia Dulisse Today I read two 300 page books in a total of 5 hours. But they were really good! I couldn't put them down

message 46: by Erin (new)

Erin V If I have a book that is over 370 pages long then it would take me that long. But 460 pages would take me atleast 14 hours straight

message 47: by Emme (new)

Emme Erin wrote: "If I have a book that is over 370 pages long then it would take me that long. But 460 pages would take me atleast 14 hours straight"

Hhaha. That's sorta funny.

message 48: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay If it was NOTHING but reading, I would guess about three hours. However, every half hour to hour I need to take a break from the book or else I'll just get antsy and become all too aware of other things I need to be doing. Also, the type of book may change my answer.

message 49: by William (new)

William Kiely I read slower than average audio book readers read out loud.

message 50: by Vivian (new)

Vivian If the book is of normal size, doesn't have pictures/lots of blank pages to separate chapter, if I read it thoroughly without "read-skimming" where I read it and don't absorb it fully, and if I'm not tired/brain-dead, it would take me approxiamately 3-6 hours.
