WEEK TWO: VOTE FOR A 2025 PROMPT
Each Monday in September we're voting on a prompt for our 2025 challenge. We're tallying the polls from last week and will have the results for you soon, but in the meantime, we've got a brand new prompt for you to vote on!
Week Two voting period: Monday, September 9, 2024 until Sunday, September 15, 2024
Prompt: "Set in _______"
This week we are voting on the prompt, "Set in..." Below you'll find ten different options to consider. The top two prompts from this week will be named finalists. In October, both finalists will be entered into a random draw. The winning prompt from that draw will then appear on our 2025 challenge.
For this prompt, we're looking for a specific setting. Some of this week's options are city-based while others are country or region specific. Some options will be easier to find books for, while others will be more challenging. As always, when it comes to finding books to fit the prompt, get as creative as you like! Locations to fit the prompt can be fictional settings, fantasy-based, set in historical cities or countries that no longer exist, current countries or cities, etc.
When deciding which word to vote for, feel free to take your time to research book titles and see which one appeals to you most. You have until Sunday, September 15 to cast your vote! (Remember, each week you can vote up to three times: once on Facebook, once on Goodreads, and once on Instagram.)

I chose capital city. Lots of options and I wanted to make the selection large enough that everyone can find a favorite.
I’m voting Country name 3 syllables long
Southern Hemisphere, cos then I can pick a book in Australia.

First place: A CAPITAL CITY
Second place: A COUNTRY WITH AN ACTIVE VOLCANO
While “Set in a capital city” very easily grabbed that first-place spot, it was a close fight for second place between “Set in a country with an active volcano” and “Set in a country with green in their flag.” (When the Facebook poll closed, there was just one vote difference between 2nd and 3rd place! Which just goes to show that every vote counts!) After tallying results across all three socials, “A country with an active volcano” took second place, and we can’t wait to see which of these two finalists will end up on our 2025 challenge!
The remaining results in descending order were: A country with green in their flag (3rd), The southern hemisphere (4th), Country name is three syllables long (5th), Country touching the equator (6th), Country with population less than 20 million (7th), Northern hemisphere (8th), City population of 3 million+ (9th), Country bordering at least five other countries (10th.)
