Apparently Invasion of the Body Snatchers was originally titled simply The Body Snatchers. Of course we want to read the published in the era 1940-1959, so even if there are minor changes, I added the original to the poll.

The Wyndham title is different UK to US, but shouldn't matter except possibly for those words like 'boot' of car and 'jumper' instead of sweater. I don't know; comments welcome.
I'm voting right out of the box. These are excellent choices, and 1984 is a particularly important book this group should have read long ago, but gosh I'm in the mood to read Alas, Babylon and so there's my shiny vote right up there. :)
My own nomination of Tunnel in the Sky is 4th for me right now. I'm very conflicted between '1984', 'Body Snatchers', & 'Alas, Babylon'. I've read the last 2 more recently than the first, so I'm going for it.
It's early, so anything can happen, but it's looking like 1984 is going to make it this month. Finally!
In a couple of days Jim will be sending out the newsletter to alert the rest of the group to this poll. Be sure to come back before the 6th to see if you want to do more campaigning or to change your vote!
Come on, people! Body Snatchers only need 2 votes. I hope to read it with the group. Since I discovered that it came from a book that I want to read it.
:smiles:If three books tie, we'll need a runoff poll.
If two books tie, we'll probably read them both - neither are too long, after all.
Remember, we do have a six month cycle, so runners-up can be re-nominated soon!

We moderators are going to have to discuss the results.I really wish that GR could provide for an Aussie-style 'instant runoff.'
