I've never read the Sookie Stackhouse series but - just tbh - I hate the way Harry treats women.

Oh!?! Its been about six years (give or take) since I last read the series, so I only remember specific story plots. I don't remember him being misogynistic.

I only got about 3 books in, but...

...he does this thing where he's being a "gentleman" by not telling women the important information that she needs to know. Because he is "protecting her" from the bad information. You know, that life sucks and then you die. By the end of book 3 no less than 2 women had fucked up shit happen to them because Harry was protecting them.

Fans of the series says this stops as the time goes on...but...

Okay. I do have a vague memory of Harry being overprotective, but I don't remember being bothered by it. I was more irritated with Murphy in the first two books and then became utterly hooked after reading the 4th book - Summer Knights.

I voted for Sookie over Dresden because the Sookie series is completed. We've been waiting for the next book in Dresden for awhile now (4 years now).

I enjoyed Dresden from book 4 through 14.
Book #15, Skin Game, and the second collection of bonus stories, Brief Cases will be new to me.

With Sookie, I originally read through book #9, I think, and I don't remember enjoying the 9th one very much. That’s not why I stopped reading the series , though. It was around that time that Harris announced that the series would end with book # 13, so I just decided to wait - but then never got back to it.

I'm a completest, anyway, so I knew I would have to finish the series sooner or later. :)

With these results, it’s now back on the top of my list, and I have the bonus stories to look forward to was well!

The problem is that The Dresden Files seems to be in a stall and you'd only get to the last story and be pissed there are no more.
