Scott Flicker tie? 2 books have 30 votes each?

message 2: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Heinzman It looks like there was a tie, so how is only one of them listed as the July book? We should have a run off vote!

Caro Is a tie! Let's all vote for Americanah!

message 4: by Jenn (new)

Jenn I thought the tie-breaker was supposed to be based on the Good Reads rating score, but according to the scores, that would make Americanah the winner.

Caro I want to know how the tie was decided.... I understood that if is a tie the book that was voted more times before the poll will be the winner and I think that there was a great majority that vote for Americanah..... And if is for the score in Goodreads Americanah has 4.18 while Water for Elephants has 4.05. Either way it looks for me that Americanah wins.... Let's see what the moderators say....

Nea I'd rather read Americanah too. I wonder why the other book is listed as the winner.

message 7: by Mary Pat (new)

Mary Pat Hey, folks! I think the asterisk next to Americanah means that it is the book for July's group read. That aligns with the rules that say a tie will be broken by the book with the highest Goodreads average.

(The poll results probably don't allow a method for sorting it in a particular way so Water for Elephants shows first in the list even though it is not the group read.)

Scott Flicker I think the July Group Reads thread has both books.

message 9: by Mary Pat (new)

Mary Pat Oh my gosh, it does! I had only looked at the nominations folder when I posted. That is the first time I have seen two books for one month!

Thanks, Scott!

P.S. Nice looking puppy! :)

Caro I didn't think about it! I was thinking it was Water for Elephants because is the one that appear when you click in the group... Two books for one month... That sounds very interesting..... Thanks Scott!
