Poll

What do you want to read to discuss in September? We're aiming for something a bit lighter this time. Please remember:
• If the book you vote for wins you are expected to return to discuss it, therefore, vote only if you will follow-up.
• Don't just vote for a book you have already read and want us to discuss, unless you really really will come back to discuss it with us. I encourage you to vote for something you have not read, for a fresh discussion.

Christina Good Omens is a great book by the way. If it doesn't win, you all may want to add it to your list anyway. :)

Derek I got so tired of Disc World after about 3 books, and then I stopped reading Pratchet altogether. I'm voting for Dream Caster just to get me to read this book that I already bought...

message 3: by Megan (new)

Megan To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Pratchett's work, but Good Omens combines his best qualities with Gaiman's, in my opinion.

Gertie I'm not a Pratchett fan either - it, how do I describe it... doesn't take itself seriously enough? I mean, I really like imaginative, but I don't like silly, and I think Pratchett's work tends to push too far into the nonsensical stuff. It all has a story behind it/ties into something else, but it's too weird for me. Like the whole the world on the back of a turtle thing, I know some folks love that sort of thing, but I just don't dig it.

On the plus side, this could mean more interesting conversation for those who read it, since there is bound to be some disagreement about style.

message 5: by Derek (new)

Derek If it wins, even though I'm not voting for it, I certainly intend to read it, so that people can tell me why I should love Pratchett :)

message 6: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I have not read Pratchett. I look at the books...but I put them back. So this is a good excuse. And I voted.

Gertie It has been a long time for me so I would be willing to try again. (I always try to read club reads anyway though.)
