thought I had the perks of being the son and getting to read early.”
Mum has a way of titillating the human mind without romanticising it. I fell for her writing since the time I stole her first book and read it in Aiden’s house.
“Fine. I’ll give you a copy the same time I send it to my agent. Happy?”
Mum forgets her pills and her meals when she’s on a tight deadline, and I have to constantly remind her of them. Silver ...

“I finally have the family I’ve dreamt of.”
And the funny part is, I don’t do what-ifs. I’m the type who doesn’t look back on past events but chooses to face forward instead.
However, there has always been an exception to my rules.
Her. My Butterfly. ...

Aiden Nash fucked Johansson from the track team. Me What the fuck?
I thought you should know.
Silver and her fucking phobia about image are starting to grate on my nerves.
“I don’t care how much I want you, Cole. I can be a fool for you, I can let you crush my damn principles, but I won’t let you humiliate me. I’m Silver Queens. I don’t take other people’s sloppy seconds.”
“That time at the wedding was my first, too.”
“I lied so they’d leave me the fuck alone. So you got Miss Goldman fired for no reason. Though she did seduce me.”
“They weren’t you, Butterfly. No one is you.”
do you think I have the energy to focus on anyone but you? You drive me fucking crazy.”
I’ll do anything if she does that. If she moans my name and kisses me as if I’m the only one she’ll ever want.
Silver Queens is officially fucked. There’s no way she’ll ever escape me now.
Two lines. Pregnant. I’m pregnant with Cole’s child. Holy. Shit.
And yes, I learnt all that football rubbish since Cole started to have an interest in the game. I’ve always pretended I didn’t care about it, and I don’t, not really, but I care about how he plays.
At least, that’s what I thought when she caught me vomiting in the bathroom the other day. Instead, she asked me if I needed help.
I might be forced to lose this life after all.
For the first time, he’s so disgusted with me, he doesn’t want to touch me.
He’s a gentleman in public. A monster in private. With me.
“Tell them,” Cole orders in a low, calm tone. “If you don’t, I will. Do you want them to hear my version?”
He’ll tell them I wanted Elsa hurt. I wanted Kim hurt. That I’m scum. That I disgust him.
“I don’t know why we keep getting involved, you and I.” She gives me a look that says, Same
“Remember Adam?” “Did he hurt you again?” she blurts. Shit. Why did she have to mention that?
“Again.” Cole’s voice lowers. “So it’s happened before, yes?” He won’t let me live this down, will he?
I respect that about Elsa. Aiden is a psycho, but he’s met his match in her.
Before I reach it, I stop, recalling something important. I face Elsa and whisper, “I’m sorry.”
“She only learnt this information yesterday. Don’t beat her up again.”
“Says the guy who watched while she was beaten to a pulp.” Aiden scoffs.
“She brought it on herself that time.” And he had to ruin it.
Xander is the one who gave us this piece of information since he does the same whenever he wants to escape his father’s wrath. Though he still doesn’t want to admit that he’s developing a drinking problem.
No one gets to toy with her under my watch. That game is mine and Silver’s alone. No outsiders are allowed.
“He puts on a façade.” I throw Aiden a condescending glance. “If you weren’t so self-centred, you would’ve noticed it.”
“Stop being a petty little bitch.”
Mental pain is more destructive than the physical one.
Adam’s eyes. It always feels euphoric when they realise I’m the worst choice they could’ve ever gotten. People are afraid of Aiden and think they can take refuge in my apparent kindness and welcoming smiles, but they don’t know me.
None of them do.
Except for my Bu...

so we planted a few stashes of cocaine in your locker this afternoon. The cleaning staff should have found them by now and reported back to the principal. He should be on a phone call with your father, but that’s not the only phone call he’ll receive, is it, Xan?”
Mum loves Silver, so she agreed immediately and said she’ll do anything to keep our family protected. Our family.
“You’ll accept your fate and leave for the military academy without a fucking protest. If you don’t, I’ll crush you.”
And I will. Adam won’t get away with only being transferred. As soon as I grow up enough to take hold of my father’s businesses, I’ll hunt him down and destroy him all over again.
True, violence never solves anything, but it’s liberating in a way.
It’s ironic that I’ve only ever punched two people due to anger — Aiden and Adam.
Both times were because ...
