Richard Stallman didn’t favor. Stallman wanted code to be free as a political and social good. His notion was for software to be “free as in freedom.”4 For Netscape, open source was an attempt to save the company from going under. It was making its source code “free as in beer.”5 The hope was to earn money by running the best beer bash.
