think they’re just biding their time. Drawing out the suspense. Enjoying watching me walk around with it on my mind.”
muttered. I was beginning to realize it was a pretty fucking big one.
all over her face. If I’d been a betting man, I would have put money on her running.
Violet.” Her name practically rolled off my tongue, the husky yet authoritative tone in my voice surprising even me.
My dick kicked at the idea, taking me by surprise. It wasn’t completely uncommon for me to get hard while working. It was a biological response. But it had been a very long time since I’d had an instant bolt of lust like that from someone I’d only met a minute ago. I tugged at my collar, feeling like I was choking.
She was all tits and hips and fuck-me thighs.
Because Violet Garrisen had completely and utterly stolen my attention within a few short minutes. She was cute as fuck. And her awkwardness was all the charisma I needed.
“With a sex club in the back.” “Wyatt!” I liked the way my name sounded on her lips.
“I’m going to go back to treating this like a date in a few minutes, because there’s no way I’m taking your virginity without making you feel special first, but I need you to know a few things about how I work.” She nodded
“Are you taking notes?” She lifted the pen, leaving a blue dot on the page. “Is that okay?”
So here are the rules. One. If writing something down makes you feel more in control of a situation for whatever reason, then write it down. There’s zero need to be embarrassed by that.”
Upfront. In full. That was always part of the rules. And yet I found myself saying, “Payment at the end, and only when you’re satisfied.”
“He’s a fool.” She tried to smile, but it was more like a grimace. “I’m paying you to say that.” “You haven’t paid me anything. I said it because I meant it.
The fact nobody had kissed this woman was criminal. And she wanted me to take her virginity tonight. Fucking hell.
She’d heard the sincerity in my voice. I hadn’t needed to fake it.
It was too much too soon for me to ask to keep them in my pocket. Next time. I blinked at the thought. Violet had only booked me for a night. There wouldn’t be a next time. She’d already made it clear she didn’t have the money to become one of my regulars.
That was the objective here after all. Wasn’t it?
“You’re asking a lot of really random questions instead of the one that makes the most sense.”
Either way, guess you’ll know by sunrise.”
Come into town with me.”
“Didn’t ask if you were. War needs us to pick up dinner from Hayden’s restaurant.”
“You had me.” And I’d thrown her away like a piece of trash. Just like every other man she’d shown interest in. Just like her family had when she was a little girl.
“You give any thought to joining Grayson’s group?” he asked, trying to sound casual. “Hawk had him come tell you about it, right?”
A thick swamp of jealousy crashed down over my head, drowning me, making it impossible to feel anything else. I stormed
I ignored them all, until the one set I wanted turned my way. She’d been smiling at him.
Her date looked in my direction and instantly stood, putting himself between us.
“Yeah, I don’t think that’s going to happen.” “I just need one minute of her time.” I went to step around him so I could explain to her all the millions of things in my head I needed to say, though how I was going to make them into any sort of coherent sentence was beyond me.
“She’s not interested.”
“Take your hand off me,” I said quietly. The other guy eyed me. “Walk away.” But it was clear neither of us could. Something in his eyes told me he was itching for a fight just as much as I was. “Not until I talk to Violet. I just need a minute.” “Violet isn’t interested in speaking to you.” “Violet can speak for herself,” I practically fucking growled.
And it’s not going to be your name she’s moaning. But mine.
it was nothing compared to the broken feeling inside me, knowing I’d hurt Violet so badly and I was only making it worse.
Whip and I both lunged for each other, grappling to get back to a fight neither of us would win.
“Look at her face, asshole! You’re fucking scaring her!” I caught a glimpse of Violet’s expression, and the fight went out of me. The real world filtered back in, and the realization an entire restaurant of people was staring. The only one I cared about was Violet.
“I’d like to know the same thing,” Violet said quietly from the doorway. I heaved in a breath. But I had no explanations. At least no good ones. Hayden focused his anger in my direction as he pulled out his phone. Nobody asked who he was calling, but it became obvious a second later. “Gray? Yeah, I need you down at Sinners. Now. Got one of your guys here.” He glared at me. “And another who needs to join.” Oh, not this fucking shit again. I pushed to my feet. “I’m not interested in Grayson’s damn support group.”
fight with the nearest guy. You’re fucking lucky it was just Whip and that Hayden and I were here to break it up, otherwise you’d probably be dead right now. You even have any idea who he is?” I didn’t, and I didn’t care.
Throwing punches and taking them until one of us was dead. And I hadn’t cared which of us it was. I was triggered. Really fucking badly. And I knew from experience, this feeling didn’t just go away.
I couldn’t even look at Violet. I was so fucking ashamed. “You need help, Levi,” she said softly, her voice breaking and tears in her eyes.
middle of a crowded restaurant, not knowing whose team I was on. Probably neither. They were clearly both idiots. And yet I couldn’t bring myself to walk away. Not when Levi was so obviously spiraling. It didn’t matter he’d hurt me. His rejection hadn’t made my feelings for him disappear.
Not that I would admit that to either of them. The restaurant door opened, and my mouth dropped open when a familiar face strolled through the restaurant. He stopped when he spotted me. “Omelet!” I blinked; sure I was seeing things. Or perhaps having a stroke.
with Levi, glanced at me. “Did he just call you…”
I couldn’t seem to ditch. Whip raised an eyebrow in X’s direction. “What are you doing here? And why are you calling her…” His voice trailed off, and then he pointed at X with a groan. “No. Nooooo.” He looked between the two of us like he was at a tennis match. One he wasn’t happy about the outcome of.
And me. Grayson stared at me. “Violet? What are you doing here?” X leaned over and hissed. “Gray, you gotta call her Omelet while we’re in group. You said.” Whip moaned again. “She’s the one you’re in love with?”
“I really wish I didn’t either. But let me break it down so we’re all on the same page. X calls you Omelet because he’s mentioned you a few times during our support group meetings. We told him not to use real names—”
I stared at Grayson helplessly. “Please make it stop.” He sighed. “I would if I knew how.”
Whip. “I challenge you to a duel, sir.” Whip squinted. “What the fuck for?” “For her hand, of course!” “Oh, for Pete’s sake,” Grayson shouted. “Everybody just stop, please, while I try to work this out. X is in love with Violet. Violet and
“I just wanted to try the lobster.” The guys who’d come in with Grayson all laughed. Fang nudged me. “How about I drive you home? I have my club van here.”
I didn’t have the mental capacity to deal with any of them tonight. So much for losing my virginity.
“Not anymore. But I grew up in Saint View and lived there until about six years back when I met my partner.”
family. So I made my own.” I glanced at him, a little jealous.
“Seems like there were a few guys back at Sinners who might want to change that.” I sighed. “Whip and I barely know each other. X is completely insane.” “What about Reaper?” I shrugged. “Levi just started a fight in the middle of a restaurant. The Levi I thought I knew is not the man I saw tonight.”
