Chimp exists in a jungle.
Human exists in a society with people
Computer makes sense of both the Chimp and the Human perceptions, and interprets these,
recognise the different worlds
make these worlds into friendly and appropriate environments
merge the two worlds
search out its troop and it will crave routine.
see any advances by Chimps outside of its troop as potential dangers and will attack them
recognising its need for structure, familiarity and reassurance.
any form of boundary dispute let the Human represent the Chimp to resolve it.
consider what it wants within that jungle area.
Learning to live within your means is an excellent way to stop the Chimp from fretting.
Your Human lives in a society and therefore sees the world as a place based mainly on logic and compassion.
Human is usually keen to develop and learn, and have opportunities to be creative.
developing the Human within you.
we don’t live fully in either world. Somewhere in between there is the Real World.
Real World is a fluctuating existence
Living in the Real World is learning how to survive and be happy.
Check that your Human has a known purpose for each day.
start your day by asking yourself what you would like to achieve by the end of the day.
either you can react to the stress or you can deal with the stress.
Don’t just react to stress; deal with it constructively.
the first reaction that you will get is a Chimp one.

Step 1: Recognition and change
recognise that you are suddenly stressed.
have a word or action to wake the Computer up.
word will wake the Computer up and set off the Autopilot, which is ‘I intend to CHANGE my immediate reaction to stress’.
choose to go with the Human and Autopilots.
Step 2: The pause button
stop your Chimp from thinking
imagine a big pause button in your Computer that causes the Chimp to freeze
actively slow your thinking down.
Step 3: Escape
distance yourself from the situation.
Step 4: The helicopter and getting perspective
look down and get some perspective on what is happening.
‘How important is this situation to the rest of my life?’;
Step 5: The plan
what you can do to react differently
change the way that you are seeing this situation
Always leave engaging with the other people involved until you have sorted out yourself and the situation.
Work out what you can control and what you can’t.
