“Don’t ignore that little pussy of yours, darlin’. She needs attention too.”
“Take a hand and slide it down your belly, Harmony,” he growled. “I want to listen to you play with that wet cunt.”
“I—um, Mason, I—" “Touch your clit for me, baby,” he murmured. His voice. Those words. Exactly what I needed.
“Beautiful,” he groaned. “You like that?” “Yes, but…” “But what?” “I wish it was your fingers, Mase,”
“They’re mine, baby. I’m standing over you, stroking my little pussy, watching your body react to me.”
“My little song, singing for me,” he growled. “She is going to come for me, right on my fingers. Move your hips, Harm. Fuck my hand like good girl.”
“That was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced, and I didn’t even see it,” he admitted. My breathing was labored as I whispered, “Thank you. Thank you so much, Mason.”
“Harmony,” he called, his voice stern now. I snapped my head up and stared at the phone. “Yes?” I whispered, a single tear sliding down the side of my head. “You don’t thank me for what you just gave me, do you understand?” he growled. What I gave him? I— “Mas—”
“That was a gift,” he told me, his voice thick. “I should be the one thanking you.”
“Now, I gotta go deal with Eddie before he gets arrested. You have a good night, okay? I’ll call you later, darlin’.”
“You gonna give me luck for my ride tomorrow?” “You and I both know you don’t need
My eight seconds of peace was filled with Harmony. I wanted more. Just when I thought I was getting control of my addiction to her, too.
I shook my head, certain I was seeing things—she couldn’t possibly—
My eyes went directly to hers, her fire red curls standing out like a sore thumb in a sea of blonde and brunette. The organ in my chest pounded as my ears began to ring, the arena around me fading away in a blur, and all I could see was my little song. She was smiling at me, wide and bright, knocking the fucking wind out of me.
I made my way to the pen, my eyes never leaving Harmony. What the fuck was she doing here? Did something happen in Houston? Did she need me? Did Eddie know?
Why? I refocused on Harmony, pushing my mom to the back of my mind. She was wearing a dress. Fuck. She dressed up for me. She came all the way to Nashville—to watch me ride. My jaw tightened, and I looked up to her, pointing to the door. Her smile only brightened, and my heart pounded faster.
“What’s up, Mason?” Cutting through the bullshit, I stated, “Red-head, curly haired woman. She’s coming down here. Let her in.” He nodded once. “Okay, I’ll let the boys know.”
“She has a teal bottle with her, don’t you fucking touch it. It’s hers. She needs it. We clear?”
All I could do was stand there in part horror, part awe at the man I was slowly falling for. Yes, falling for.
After it was over and the bull was returned to the pen, I didn’t think he would see me. But my Mason did.
“Mason!” “Hush,” he clipped. A rush of cold shot down my spine as I noted the anger in his voice. Was he angry at me for coming? Did he not want me to watch him?
A warm, kind smile spread across his face. I only got to enjoy it for half a second, though, because Mason turned around. The breeze from outside hit my face and I heard, “Harm’s here.”
“I can see that.” “Pam asks, tell her that,” my cowboy ordered, his deep voice firm. “Will do, bud,”
“Get her out of here before the boys find her,” Eddie finally said. “She’s too pretty for you, and damn too pretty for those assholes.”
“Mason?” I called. His hand slid up the back of my thigh, not stopping until his palm was resting over one of the globes of my ass. “Don’t push me, baby,” he growled. “But—”
“You’re safe with me,” Mason grunted. You’re safe with me. You’re safe with me. You’re safe with me.
He didn’t want me here. That’s why he looked mad. That’s why he was talking to me the way he was. I wasn’t wanted here. Suddenly, a different kind of emotion took over. I was angry. Angry at him for treating me this way. Angry at myself for being so foolish. My eyes dropped to my lap, my stomach twisting painfully. “Look at me,”
“You don’t have to be such an asshole, ya know?”
“I just wanted to surprise you—I wanted to watch you do your thing. I wanted to experience the great Mason Langston in person, because I didn’t get the chance months ago. Even if I did, it wouldn’t have been the same, because you were nothing but a stranger to me. Tonight, you weren’t a stranger! You were mine!”
You were mine, and I was yours. That’s what we decided on, righ...

“You don’t get to be an asshole when I was just trying to support you. You don’t get to scoop me up and haul me out of there like you’re a fucking caveman! Hell, I didn’t even get to properly introduce myself to Eddie, which was something I was lookin...

“Harm—”
“You know, Dr. G told me to take a leap of faith with you! That what I was experiencing with you was normal? I’ve never had normal, Mason. My life has never been normal! Tonight, I put on a pretty dress, and came to see you, the cowboy who bought me flowers—”
“You don’t get to call me your little song and do what you just did. You don’t get to push me to sing when you are so fucking ashamed of me that you had to get me out of your world the second I stepped into it.”
“You don’t get to be mean to me, Mason Langston! I’ve ...

“I ride bulls alone. Been doing it alone for over a fucking decade. You hear me? Over ten Goddamn years. Never—never has anyone been in the stands for me.” “Mason—” “Shut the fuck up,”
“This is what you do to me, Harmony Green. Fucking beautiful. Too damn beautiful, and the kicker is that you don’t even know it. You don’t know how beautiful you are. What a treasure you are, with your red curls, blue eyes, a smile that could blind a sorry motherfucker, curves that make a man like me believe in God, and the voice of an angel. You being in those stands tonight—for me and only me—not as a fucking fan, buckle bunny, or a person who wants me to fail, damn near killed me. You sitting there in this dress, supporting me, because you care about me…this is what that does to me. I can’t

“Mase—” “Another thing, baby; when I set you on my truck—you stay on my fucking truck,”
“I got you out of there because the second I saw you; I knew this wasn’t a fucking game. Not anymore—never has been to me, Harmony. You’re healing, and, darlin’, I respect that, I really do. You need space. You need a man who’s patient with you. You need a gentle man, one who will take you slow and sweet. I’m not slow and sweet. I’m hard and fast. I don’t make love—never have. I fuck. Hard.”
“Rode a monster tonight to get my eight seconds of peace—of silence. Didn’t get that, baby. I got your voice; it was the only thing I could hear as that fucker tried to throw me off. When it was all over, I looked up and saw you there—here—watching me.” “Yes,”
“Had to get you out of there because if didn’t, I was gonna fuck you in front of those cowboys. Those undeserving sons of bitches shouldn’t see beauty like yours.” “Sweetie,”
“Do you trust me?” he demanded, his lips an inch from mine.
“My soul does, Mase.” “Fuck,” he groaned as his lips slammed down on mine.
This was it. I was going to give myself to him, right here under this tree, with the moon shining down on us.
“Little Song,” he rasped. “Mase,” I breathed, electricity shooting through my body, right down to my clit, as he held me against him.
“You wear that dress for me, darlin’?” he asked, his voice gruff and thick with desire. “Yes,” I whispered, my nipples hardening under his gaze. “You wear those Docs for you?”
The dress made me feel beautiful, but the Docs gave me an extra layer of emotional protection. My eyes drifted back up to him. “Yes.”
“Fucking killin’ me, baby, you know that?” “Mason—” “You gonna let me fuck you on the back of my truck wearing that dress?”
“Fuck me?” Had to get you out of there because if didn’t, I was gonna fuck you in front of those cowboys.
