The Gunslinger (The Dark Tower, #1)
by
"I read the mass market paperback edition of the collected novellas that were first published in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. I'm not sure if some editing was done to better piece the novellas together or if they were consistent and contiguous enough with each other to need no further editing. Sometime before reading the 4th book in the series, I read the rewrite King did on this first book. I don't remember noticing any significant differences between the two except that the newer edition seemed a lot smoother. Overall definitely a good series. I wonder how A Wind Through The Keyhole will work in with the rest of the series. I'm not a big fan of new books being inserted here and there in the chronology of a previously finished series. But it can work. Especially if the characters and storyline aren't too connected with the original series."

The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1)
by
"I really enjoyed this book and it's sequel. although I must say that I enjoyed the parts where Kvothe is telling his story to the Chronicler. The third person scenes that take place in the present time seem kind of distracting, although I think they will be important for the end of the series."

Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
by
"Very excellent. I didn't know what all the hubbub was about, even after I finished reading it. But this book has grown in my mind the more I think about it, so much that I want to read it again."

Redwall (Redwall, #1)

"I finally read this book and it was really great. Brian Jacques's writing is superb. I was sad to hear of his passing. I look forward to reading the rest of the series."

The Eyes of the Dragon

"Really great book. I enjoyed this book far more than I thought I would. I wish Stephen King would write more books like this."

The Eye of the World (The Wheel of Time, #1)
by
"This is a great first book to the series. You've got to a patient reader with Jordan, however. He wasn't one to let the action of a scene get in the way of his describing everything. I'm having trouble getting into the second book. I've put it on hold for other pursuits for now. I expect to get back to it in a month or two. Brandon Sanderson's almost finished writing the last book, so I better get on the ball and get the others read so I'll be ready for the last installment."

Wizard's First Rule (Sword of Truth, #1)
by
"I really liked this book when I read it in high school. I didn't have much patience for long books back then and the fact that I finished it says a lot. I've heard that the series only gets worse and worse, but I would like to get the rest of the read some day."

Mistborn: The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1)
by
"Great first book to this series. Then you can skip the second book and the first half of the third book before finishing up with a thrilling last 300 pages of the series."

The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1)
by
"This is a typical Sanderson book where huge portions of the text could be cut out without losing much. But the rest of it was pretty good and I'm interested to see how the series progresses. Sanderson's got a pretty good imagination that makes up for his long-windedness."

The Icewind Dale Trilogy Collector's Edition (Forgotten Realms: Icewind Dale, #1-3; Legend of Drizzt, #4-6)
by
"This was some of the first fantasy I read in Junior High. I remember enjoying it at the time, but if I were to reread it now in my old age, I might not think so highly of it."
