To Kill a Mockingbird

"I remember when I read this the first time in the ninth grade, all the other students, my friends included, complained about having to read this book, but I loved it. This is easily one of the greatest books ever written, showing us an unfair world from the eyes of a true arbiter of right and wrong, a child."

"I love this novel, I love the detail and the humour and the ingenuity. Andy Weir's first (published) novel is excellent, easily one of my all time favourites."

Catch-22

"I chose to read this novel for my twelfth grade book report, not really knowing what I was getting myself into, and was pleasantly surprised. Catch-22 had me laughing all the way through the novel at its absurdity and very dark humor. A great novel."

"I couldn't put this book down, the characters are compelling, and while I'm still a little weirder out by the whole "falling in love with someone you met on the internet without ever meeting in person" thing, I think this book was funny, and entertaining, and had some pretty good messages about identity and friendship. A great nerdy novel."

"I love this one too. As a scientist, the story resonates deeply with me, and I found myself falling in love with Ellie's strong personality and brilliant mind. Sagan is the best."

Great Expectations

"This novel, while short for Dickens, was still a slog for me to get through in the tenth grade, but it was worth it. Great Expectations just works, the story seems to flow perfectly, and save for the ending (I prefer Dickens' original over the one he ended up with), I wouldn't change a thing."
