"This was the book that told the ultimate origin for the Caped crusader, great storytelling by Miller, fantastic art by Mazzucchelli. It is particularly good how they made Jim Gordon a protagonist in this book, just as important as Batman. We see how Gordon tries to have an honest life as a cop in a city where no one gives a damn about anyone and that is dominated by corruption and every kind of crime, but it show us too that Jim, although maybe the best example of a good decent guy in fiction, is human, thus weak and capable of make mistakes. We see bruce giving his first steps as Batman, how he was inspired, how the idea of the bat as a symbol of fear was needed. Andit certainly is beautiful to watch the moment Batman and Gordon became allies. After all they both want to clean a city that likes to be dirty, they can't do it by themselves, they need each other. It's unbelievable the way they made the perfect Batman origin story in only 4 issues. This book inspired most of the best batman stories and many of the best comic stories, man , it even inspired many of the greatest stories in media.
