Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet
by
"Yet another recommendation from my aunt. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is the story of an old Chinese man who lived in the U.S. during World War 2. As a hotel near him is cleared out, the basement turns out to be filled with objects that Japanese families had hidden away when they were shipped off to internment camps. "

The Princess Bride
by
"I love this book. Not only is it hilarious, but every little aspect of the book seems to be perfect in its own way. The Princess Bride is about a beautiful girl named Buttercup and Wesley, the stable boy who is in love with her and answers her every request with "as you wish." But when Wesley leaves in order to find his fortune, she becomes the betrothed of the Prince who only wishes to use her in order to start a war. I would recommend this book to anyone who could deal with the ridiculousness, because it's wonderful."

Battle Royale
by
"This book beat out the Hunger Games for me. Not only is it more gory and interesting, but it also came before the Hunger Games. It talks about the encounters of multiple teenagers as their class of 42 students is sent out onto an island protected by the government to kill each other. They are not the only class in Asia doing this, and this is not the first time or last time this will happen. "

World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War
by
"World War Z is what seems to be a compilation of multiple stories about the events of humanity's fight against zombies. It talks about where it started, the military aspect, etc. It all seemed very realistic and probable, and I would most likely recommend it for that reason."

D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths
by
"This was the book that sparked my obsession with mythology. Recommended from my aunt, I read this book which tells many of the Greek myths in a child-friendly format, along with great pictures that fit the story very well. It's very useful and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to know more about mythology."

The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, #1-5)
by
"I don't really know how to describe this book. It's absolutely hilarious and is a book that everyone should read, if they have enough time. The book follows the story of a couple different characters (and plants) as they travel through space and time, always learning new things about the universe."

The Phantom Tollbooth
by
"Milo is an incredibly bored boy. One day after school, he arrives home to see that a mysterious package has been delivered to his room. Inside this package is a tollbooth that takes him away on an adventure into another land that reminds him as to why his life really isn't all that boring. Well it's still a book for younger kids, it's still a pretty good read that I always seem to enjoy! (Dodecahedron man is the best!)"

BZRK (BZRK, #1)
by
"Yet another dystopian book! In BZRK, Sadie and Noah are recruited into BZRK, a team of people fighting a war against the Armstrong's Brother's organization, all on the nano level. The entire books does not care if you cringe at the descriptions of the bugs eating away at your dead skin, or how those pretty blue eyes really look. I definitely recommend this to those who liked the Gone series, considering it's by the same author."

Divergent (Divergent, #1)
by
"If you've ever read this book, then you should know I don't really need to justify why I liked it so much. I'm kind of a dystopia freak, so I really liked this book (and its sequel). The entire books takes you to the Beatrice's world, which is divided into 5 different factions. Each faction is known for specific qualities: the Erudite are intellectuals, the Abnegation are selfless, the Candor are honest, etc. So when Beatrice chooses her faction, will she be able to handle the harsh initiation and the life that follows, or will she fail and become one of the homeless, factionless people living on the streets?"

The Thief (The Queen's Thief, #1)
by
"A friend's mom bought me this book to read on a plane when I was in elementary school and I did not like it at all. IT was the story of an arrogant thief that decided to brag in a bar that he was such a good thief that he could even steal from the king. They sent him to jail, of course. Since he's "such a great thief", they send him off to steal a jewel from a neighboring country in order to control it. I seriously only recommend this book for its ending. That's it."
