Not really my definitive top ten or anything, so I won't stand by the ranking order...this list pretty much represents whatever long-time and most recent favorites came to mind first in the course of about one minute.

Excluding short story anthologies from the category took a lot of my favorite books out of the running.

I haven't read it yet, but did enjoy the film adaptation quite a bit. I would imagine the two are quite different experiences. Thanks for reminding me about this one!
