In some languages, pre- and suffixes such as "Fitz," "Mac"/"Mc," "O'," "-vich," "-son," "-sen" etc. indicate a filial relationship: they go back to the days when a person was identified not only by his own (given) name but also by being someone else's son. Except in Iceland, Russia and Eastern Europe, the tradition is largely extinct, but many of the names have survived nevertheless. So let's bring them together here!
