K.J. Beck is on page 56 of 290 of On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness: I am reading this to my son, and at the same time I am personally reading Imaginary Creatures. Both for the same audience but the storytelling in this book is worlds better as is the world-building. I’m enjoying this book way more than Imaginary Creatures and my kid loves it.

I never expected a formal or traditional resolution of the story. However, whatever this book was, it was objectively bad. Any and all mystery has been utterly stripped away and in its place instead is a masturbatory over-explanation about this world ...more
