It's good to know that you think I managed to write from make and female perspective well. I really can't say how I did it. I just tried my best to make my characters as natural as i can. I tried to imagine how a person like Arsh or Nirvi would behave in such situations. I took inspiration from the way my friends and family members react and respond. And that helped me mold my characters.

Nirvi changed herself not because of what happened to her. She changed herself because she was made to feel that she wasn't good enough and what happened to her was the result of her own behaviour and personality. She was told to become like her beautiful, graceful and well-mannered friend and learn to behave 'properly.' Nirvi trained herself to become just like her friend Kusum. She changed herself to become the model of 'desirable' just like her friend. And being slim, docile and submissive was a part of that.
However, Nirvi's spirit rebelled against this injustice. And even when she assumed the mask of graceful submissiveness, she rebelled against the society by becoming submissive plaything of men.(less)

Thanks.
I don't create a very strict plan before I start my novel. However, it is also true that when I start writing a novel, I know where I want to end it. And so far, I have managed to bring my story to that pre-decided end.
I also create brief character sketches before I start. I know where I want to lead the characters. Keeping that in mind, I try and decide the forces that will drive the characters towards their complications and ultimate destiny. These include their internal characteristics and external forces. I also try and decide the forces that oppose them. But none of this is concrete and keeps on changing as the story and characters develop.
As for the plot, I plan portion by portion. Like, I plan the first five chapters keeping in mind what I want to achieve in those chapters. By the time it's done, I usually manage to see the next turn the story will take. And based upon that, I plan the next few chapters. And so on.
But all through the process, the end remains in sight.(less)

“Creativity is a magic wand that works two ways. When you set it in action and seek to create something, it does not just brings into existence that object or work, it also raises in your heart a dream, a hope, and a will to achieve that creation. And when all else seems lost and steeped in hopelessness, the magic of creativity can still keep you going. For when all else seem dark, an urge to create something would still give you an aim to look forward to. And if you just take hold of this urge, it will take hold of you and see you through even the darkest times. Like it did to me.”
Jyoti Arora

“It is not very often that an opportunity comes knocking. But when it does, you better be bathed and dressed and ready to answer its call.”
Jyoti Arora, Dream's Sake

“No book can be written till it wants to be written, till it shouts to be written, and raises up a persistent din in the writer's head. And then, if you want peace, you just have to pull it out and freeze it in print. Nothing less would do.”
