The title is reffering to name of king David's son, who killed his brother, raised a revolt against his father and was killed because his long hair were caught in branches of an oak - tree when he was running away. Very good book.

This was my first venture into the world of Faulkner. I'd always thought I'd be daunted by his sprawling style and "classic" literature status, but it was actually enjoyable. Sure, there were times when I'd be reading for three pages and couldn't remember who was talking or how the paragraph started or why we were even on the subject we were discussing, but overall it was good. I plan to tackle more Faulkner when I get a chance, especially because I'd like to continue with the stories of the Sut

A wonderful reading by Grover Gardner. Absalom, Absalom! is a terrific book, but Gardner's reading really brought it to life, and made it easier to follow (as we know, Faulkner books are not always the most easy things to follow).
