A lovely, melancholy story. I mostly enjoyed hearing "the Schlegel sisters" mentioned often (as I am one of 3 sisters, and we bear that last name) or "the Miss Schlegels". I thought the characters had much depth and many facets to themselves; they were all distinct and very interesting to watch grow. It was an interesting story for 1910; much scandal, but it all seemed to largely be treated very calmly & almost always decently. This book is a fascinating portrayal of class division in Edwardian England. I found it completely absorbing. Forster knows how to make a simple conversation charged with meaning.
