Pues nada, gastando premios de manera desafortunada...
Divertida a veces (aunque me pierdo con los localismos más de lo que debería), a veces trágica (otra más, y van...), y entretenida. Pero desde luego, no es un novelón.

An interesting mix of character exploration and Dominican History. What makes our identities and are we prisoners to our history? Also having attended Rutgers it was nice to read a book partially set there.

I'd like to give this book a 4.5, because I more than really liked it, but it wasn't quite amazing. This is one of the most unique books I have read in a long time. Although I thought I was getting into a book mainly about a nerdy, overweight man with roots from the Dominican Republic, there are many more layers within. The book delves into his family, history of the Dominican Republic, this "fuku" which seems to haunt his family, all the while being narrated by someone who does not appear until ...more

Good things first....Ok, it definitely was very different from what I was expecting...and different in a good way. I enjoyed the references to Dominican history (which I didn't know anything about). And my favourite story was probably Yunior's.

Overall I like the book, but I felt it dragged to much for me. I would skip a few pages and he'd still be describing some tree/person/place...which for me I find boring.

But I would recommend to others
