Seriously, y'all, just move this one up on your TBR. Immediately. You have never read a contemp rom-com as good as this, and the trope of hate-to-love-with-deliciously-filled-banter has never been done so well. I was in LOVE with these characters from start to finish, whether they were at their best or worst (and most often they were at their worst).

The Hating Game was my first semi-steamy romance, and my first romance with a cute illustrated cover! I enjoyed this one a lot, not one of my favorites looking back, but I respect it for what it was and how it helped me realize I *do* like romance. 4.5 stars!

Ooooh first book of the year a super sweety romance with pride and prejudice kind of vibe. With a funny, stubborn, witty woman and a stiff stubborn heart of gold under the armor kind of man. Love it

I devoured this book in eight hours. It consumed my entire Sunday and I’m not mad about it. Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman *sigh* find themselves forced to work together when their two publishing houses merge; a last effort to save a dying business. Que the ‘Hating Game’, the ‘Staring Game’, the ‘You’re Just So Game’, and every other game in-between.

Lucy is on a mission to hate Josh for the rest of her days; she’s positive that Josh feels the same until they end up in a cliché elevator scene. She’s sure that he’s one snap away from killing her, he’s wondering if maybe her ‘hate’ is just a cover for something a little deeper.

Lucy: “I didn’t ask for you advice, Joshua. I get so mad at myself, letting you drag me down to your level all the time.”
Josh: “And what level are you imagining me dragging you down to? Horizontal?”

This is definitely a put-it-on-your-self-and-read-it-again-every-other-month kind of book. There isn’t a whole lot of character development (outside of Lucy and Joshua) but I found that I was oddly okay with it. The witty banter, the love to hate relationship, and all the drama in-between kept me hooked on this book. You really didn’t need outside players (aside from giving some background and context to propel the story forward).

This is my first Sally Thorne read, and it will not be my last. I want to hate her for pulling me into these pages, but I just can’t. It’s been a minute since a book has been able to do that to me so well, and I want to experience it again! ...more

Ok, this one was an interesting read for sure. I don't know if I'm a fan or not. I really liked the beginning of this book and a little of the middle and then very little of the ending. Maybe it's just me but I just wasn't satisfied with it. Basically Lucy and Josh hate each other at the very beginning of this book & are up against each other for a higher spot in this company they work for. Eventually they end up hanging out through other circumstances.

Okay Sally Thorne, this was one of my favorites. The writing kept me on the edge of my seat, the love story... was frustrating, annoying, relatable, amazing and so many other adjectives.

Finally read it!
I had a very busy week and weekend so it took me longer than normal to read this. I think I would have really loved this if I’d read it all together in a day or so. I really liked their games and banter and Josh? 🥰😍🥰 I was hesitant at first because everyone raves about this book. I also read 99 Percent Mine first and thought it was just ok.
