Unnecessary angst. I kind of didn't get Mare and Cal's actions half the time.
Evangeline was still awesome.
I couldn't care less about Iris's POV. She was annoying and boring.
The ending was quite anticlimactic.
I just expected a bit more. At least we got to se Montfort. Finally. And my suspicions about it were finally dissolved. :-) ...more

Well, 3,5 stars.
At the beginning of the book there was a moment when I thought about DNFing this book. Like really all the characters were just repeating all the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. The things that they were repeating weren't any new issues they were the problems Well, 3,5 stars.
At the beginning of the book there was a moment when I thought about DNFing this book. Like really all the characters were just repeating all the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. The things that they were repeating weren't any new issues they were the problems which were presented in the last books:
Evangeline was still whining about being a prisoner because of her own family, but wouldn't want to actually do anything about her. And just don't remind me of her constant whining over Elane! Although I apreciace that the author added a LGBT character, she didn't have to make it as the only really outstanding characteristic of Eve.

Then there were Mare and Cal and their never-ending life dilemmas: Do we kill Maven even though we still kinda love him? Can we be together when we love each other but want completely different things? Can we make the other one believe they're wrong?
I could go on and on with all these character dilemmas, but honestly I don't have the whole night for this.
The plot throughout the first 200 pages was really dull. The middle was good, i guess and the ending just disappointing. How to say this. I am pleased with the way it ended I'm just not pleased how opened it was and how it was written. What's the point in writing something this long only to give it short unsatisfying ending. The book was already over 600 pages long so another 50 wouldn't make much difference…
The only thing I truly loved about this book were the Maven and Cal chapters. I think it was brave from the author to go into the heads of those two even for just a short period of time. And some of those chapters were actually enjoyable.
I still don't know why I gave this book such high rating. Maybe it's because I gave King's Cage 3 stars and this was definitely slightly better than that... ...more

War Storm je neuvěřitelná bichle a dala mi pěkně zabrat. Hlavně proto, že je to v podstatě celé jen o politice a válce. Pokud vás podobné věci baví, budete to milovat. Pokud ne, tak oh well... Osobně mě to bavilo, ale čeho je moc, toho je moc. Zvraty byly překvapivé, víc PoV tomu taky prospělo. Až na Iris, ta je nudná. Mým favoritem byla Mare a Maven. Cal je... idiot. Mrzí mě, že moje nejoblíbenější postava (Maven) skončila tak, jak skončila. Mělo ho tam být víc!

English Review:

War Storm is fourth and final book in Red Queen series. I started this series immediately after the book 1 came out and I fell in love. It has a lot of flaws, indeed. It's not original either. But do you know what? I didn't care. I fell in love with Silvers vs Reds and I enjoyed all the intriques and betrayals. War Storm felt completely different from previous books. All the players arrived which means war could finally start. So yes, War Storm is basically all about politics and war. Which might be alright, if you are into this kind of stuff. I personally didn't mind that much but it felt too much from time to time. This book is huuuuge.

Another new aspect is more PoVs which was brilliant. I didn't care much for Cygnet Queen, Iris, because I found her plain and boring, but I appreciated Maven's PoV, same as Evangeline's. Both of them are my favourite characters (Maven is the best), side by side with Mare. I didn't care much for Cal (he could die and I wouldn't care less). Author managed to show us where all the other side characters went, which was really nice. Everyone was somewhat important. Don't expect that much romance, not as much as in the other books. This is about war, not about their hearts.

In the end, I enjoyed War Storm. There are thigns which might have been handled differently, but afterall I am satisfied. The only things which bothered me are that (view spoiler) and (view spoiler). The ending was okay.

Shelves: read-in-en, young-adult, fantasy, dystopia

Po toľkých rokoch som si záverečný diel predstavovala úplne, ale úplne inak... nehovorím, že to bolo zlé, ale jedna moja časť je asi aj rada, že už je koniec a nebude to Victoria zbytočne naťahovať a stále si myslím, že to mala nechať povôdne ako trilógiu.
