It's fucking DUNE. It's like reviewing Pac-Man, anymore, It's not needed. I read it for the first time at the age of 21, and have read it about once a year since then. A love of Science-fiction is not needed, though knowing the history of the genre will add to it's absolute genius. The Universe it presented was totally believable and the only thing missing is 20 extra years for Herbert to begin what he started.

Read this book when I was in high school and was blown away by the unique worlds created by Frank Herbert. And his attention to detail is incredible. From the unique still suits worn by the Fremen, to the stutter step walk they must use when crossing the sietch so as not to summon Shai Halud. I fell in love with that story and have since read the entire series, including the more recent stories posthumously co-written by his son. Dune is my favorite novel of all time. There are so many great concepts and ideas intertwined with a very epic, character-driven space opera story that I can't help but love it. Plus I discover new things every time I pick it up. This is a must read for everyone.
