THAT is how the series ends? I am absolutely irate. I hate committing my time, energy and emotions to a series only to wind up with a stinker of an ending. It didn't even feel like it belonged in the book. It was sloppy and rushed. And I hated that the chapters alternated perspectives - it was too hard to keep track!

Oh Allegiant, how I wanted to love you! To think of the days I anxiously awaited your arrival, only to have my hopes of you ripped away and pulled into the depths of disappointment. Where did we go wrong?? Unlike your predecessors, Divergent & Insurgent, it was so easy to put you down & forget about you. Okay, seriously, I don't know what happened to this series. I loved the first two books!! This one, so-so. Really it kinda killed the whole series for me. I didn't cry like most did. I don't kno

I got surprisingly emotional at That Ending that everyone is always talking about. I still don't think the series does a very good job at explaining the society's motivations for its decisions, and too often characters have equally murky reasons for their choices. The plot became overly complicated leading up to the big showdown, like (view spoiler)

I don't even know what I feel right now. I haven't cried this much reading a book since tfios.
This book is between 4.5 to 5 stars for me, just because there were bits that were boring and didn't do it for me. It doesn't take away from how much I loved this book (this series!) though. ...more

Allegiant is the 3rd book in the Divergent series. I enjoyed The first and second book and found myself mostly enjoying this third one as well. Although at some points I did find myself annoyed with the characters and the fact that they seemed to be continuously making dumb choices. It wasn't until the end of this book that the real shock came. I admit that I had my suspicions about how Roth might choose to end this series but I never for one second thought that she would actually do it. Needles

Disappointing final installment to an otherwise fun and solid series. Things fell apart for me in this book - the story was chock full of plot holes (not going to waste more time going into the inconsistencies, muddled explanations and complete plot fails since they have already been covered thoroughly and thoughtfully by some reviewers here). And for what it's worth, my opinion has nothing to do with the ending, this book was a chore for me from early on (i.e. deciphering who was narrating the

How often is it that the last book in a series is always my least favorite - more often than I'd like. Still, once you start it's almost an obligation to finish it even if it ends on absolutely no positive notes for any of the characters (in my opinion). Hollywood is releasing a movie adaptation of the first book so I have to wonder if they make it through all three books will they change the ending of the third to make it more positive?
