I borderline HATED this book. The characters are flat and the description is almost non-existent. The author tells us what the main character is feeling but there is no explanation as to why. It was pretty much impossible to relate to or empathize with the main character at all. The only time the author seemed to bother with any description of HOW the character feels (versus simply TELLING US) was during the moments of her budding sexual attraction to one of the other characters.

Well I bought this book over a year ago and just now got around to reading it. I don't know why I let the size of a book scare me about reading it. I can't wait to purchase the next book and read it. I loved this book and this is probably going to become another of my favorite series along with HP and Hunger Games.

This definitely had a Hunger Games feel to it. At first, I had a hard time enjoying the story line but as I continued to read I enjoyed it more and more.
I really liked the concept. Really liked all of the characters. Looking forward to reading Insurgent
A compelling storyline that grabbed me up quickly. The setting is stark, and yet in some ways almost "normal", human emotions are strained but intact, at least for some, and all of them are present, greed, avarice, kindness, selflessness. I look forward to reading Insurgent.
