So I'm a bit late to the party on this one. I've had it sitting on my shelf for a couple years, saving it for a day when I needed a really good book. But with the movie coming out I decided I'd better read it before the movie ruins it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book despite it not being my favorite genre. A fellow bookie told us about the series at our Athen's Book Club, and all of my grandkids have talked about it so I decided to give it a try. It reminded me of the Hunger Games series; same genre but with a different twist that I liked. The insight-fulness of this book was refreshing to read. So many books I have read do not have any substance to them. They are only entertaining stories. This was so much more. I had a very hard time putting this book down when I knew I had other things to do. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

This book reminded me of a cross between The Hunger Games and Uglies. It seems to be directed at a younger "young adult" audience.

I loved this book! Granted it can be grouped in the same category as "Hunger Games" but it's still a great fast read. I just can't let go of my young adult post apocalyptic society novels. The sequel is pretty good too, if a little predictable.
