Really hits a nostalgic nerve if you are among the "Oregon Trail" generation that sort of awkwardly sits in a liminal space between Gen X and Millennial. I really enjoyed the writing, in particular: Character development, creative plot touches, and one somewhat "experimental" chapter written in the style of a video game re-gen lifecycle (and was surprisingly heartbreaking). This book really shows the author's growth as a writer. I was pulled in by the relationships and commentary on life as seen through the eyes of programmers. There are also touches of theater and Shakespeare.

I'll give half credit to all the hype. I liked the story it was new and different as far as the concept goes. The love of the two but never in a way you expect a love story to go. The internal conflicts and the complex relationship with mental health issues. Really gives you food for thought.
