Definitely a juicy summer read! How fitting that this book takes place in New York and LA, because it reads like a movie. Each time present day Evelyn started talking about her past, the writing sucked me in and out of time warps. Some dialogue at times didn't feel like it was completely from the right era, but that didn't distract me from the glamorous picture it paints of a Hollywood star reflecting on her life and loves. I could not put this one down. Just loved it.

This book was worth the wait. A two-month wait, specifically, the time I was on ice via my library hold.
Monique Grant is an early-career reporter yearning for a meaty assignment. Evelyn Hugo is an elderly Hollywood icon. When Monique is asked to write a feature on Evelyn, by request of the actress, she can’t for the life of her figure out why.
No spoilers here but the ending ruined it for me. Up until then it was an absorbing tale.
