This is a powerful story, centered around parents and our struggles. But it's a rough story. This book deserves a longer review than this. This was more a literary fiction than a mystery. And it was more successful as literary fiction with more compelling female characters than their male counterparts. There was a lot going on here and perhaps too much to really deal with all of the varied issues in a meaningful way. The mystery part was disappointing but the mothers were done well.

After much contemplation I give this book 3.5 stars. It has given me more to think about than previously thought. I am glad I read it.
