Must read for classic rock lovers!

This novel is written about the successes and strains of being a rock band in the 1970s. The story is told in interview format of the formation of the Daisy Jones & the Six, their rapid ascent into fame and their even quicker demise.

Taylor Jenkins Reid knocks it out of the park with this one with great character development, an interesting story, and a bit of a twist. I read a physical book but heard the audiobook is even better.

I was so looking forward to this, but for some reason I kept putting it off. I should have just kept putting it off.

The only characters in this that I even marginally liked were Camila and Karen Karen. The rest of them were trite, self-absorbed and shallow. And every time Eddie spoke I just hated them all more.

I have seen Almost Famous and A Star is Born and I didn’t really want to read a cheap knock-off amalgamation of both, but here we are.

Just a pure joy to read. Fun, playful, insightful- I can see why this book has been so loved and adored by so many. I may post a longer review later but at the moment just wanted to convey that it was just a great book.

Great Read

I can’t believe that I brought this in 2019 and haven’t read it until 2021. I can understand why it was “toted” as the book to read in 2019.

I loved the way the book was formatted; the different points of view made the tale more realistic. I believed that there was a band called “Daisy Jones and The Six”. When I finished and realised I would never hear Honeycombed, Impossible Women or Aurora I was sad, Reid had made this very believable.

I really enjoyed this read. There was such a steady build but the ending felt rushed. I hope the editor didn't do that... if the editor cut out important content, they need to be fired. However, that did not diminish the storytelling, it just left you needing/wanting more information. ...more
