“Sometimes you need to scorch everything to the ground, and start over. After the burning the soil is richer, and new things can grow. People are like that, too. They start over. They find a way.”

I knew I would enjoy LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE, but I had no idea how much I would Love LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE.

LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE is set in Shaker Heights, Ohio during the late 1990's, and follows the Richardson family as a mother and daughter named Mia and Pearl

Slow at parts but a beautifully told story.

All of the characters were so real and so deeply dimensional. Their situations felt like they could happen to anyone.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the way the story line wasn’t very linear, it felt a little disjointed to me, but all in all I loved it.

This novel completely absorbed me. So much so that I chose to stay home and read on a Saturday night instead of going to a Christmas market with my husband. The thought of leaving this book before knowing how and if it would all work out was heartwrenching. In the end, I couldn't resist the lure of this story and these characters.

I related to nearly all of these characters because I've been all of them - at least once - in my life. I understand Elena's hope that living an ordered, rule-bound li

I reread this for our book club meeting next week, and stick by my 4 star rating. Mrs. Richardson was a mean, malicious woman. I have to believe that she will get what's coming to her eventually. I really enjoyed revisiting the history of Shaker Heights where Daisy and I had dinner when she ran in the Cleveland 1/2 Marathon. ...more

A great read. I’d been meaning to read the author’s first book years ago but picked this up because of all the recent buzz. I also heard Celeste Ng being interviewed on CBC radio the other day so a timely read. The interview actually provided a bit more insight as to nuances in the book. Being a Chinese Canadian 1st gen who struggled with infertility and now the mother of teenager s-I guess one can guess why I was drawn to the plot! Aside from the plot I found the author’s description and writin ...more

I think that I need to start reading the blurbs of books...
I was so confused until the 60% mark, I think this is where the custody battle for May Ling comes into play?
There was just so many conflicts going on at once, but I liked how they all tied together in the end.
Definitely recommend, even though the beginning was slow going for me.

Another awesome book by Celeste Ng. She really captures the characters and makes you ride the roller coaster with them. This is definitely one of those books you dive into and feel at a loss when the ride is over. I hope there is a sequel to this one. I miss the characters already.
