Writing a book of any culture that is really difficult unless you are form that culture or born and brought up in that particular culture. For a person not having lived in the Japanese culture and having read about geisha's only in books. I really liked the book. It was written as a read for everybody and the author did a good job. I liked this book a lot, even though there were controversies over whether the book did a good job on accurately portraying Geishas of Japan.
The history behind Geishas is quite impressive, and this book is proof that Arthur Golden did extensive research on Geishas prior to writing this book.
