Beartown is a town on the verge of being non existent except that the junior ice hockey team is in the national semifinals and has a chance at winning!
Lots of talented kids will go a long way in their sports career if this happens and the whole hockey town is on the verge of hysteria. These kids are not treated as kids but trophies and nobody notices it. At times dark, funny, poignant and touching, with a little bit of something for everyone.
This took a little while to get into and it might have taken even longer if I had tried to stick it out with the physical book. I read a recommendation for the audiobook, and that definitely did the trick! Nothing can make this an EASY read, though. It breaks your heart over and over again... but it's worth it to know these characters and feel this story.

My second book by Backman and I was not disappointed. He has a unique way of weaving a story that makes you ponder your values and how you would react to events.....
