Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine ~~ Gail Honeyman

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine had been on my radar for a while due to all the raves I had seen here about Honeyman's debut novel. People were going bonkers over it and leaped lavish praise upon this book. I was excited when my mother's book club choose this as the

I would rate this a 4.5 star if I could. I absolutely loved Eleanor. ( The only reason I hesitate slightly to give it a full five stars has everything to do with "Little Fires Everywhere" which still resonates with me so much that every book I've read since can't help but be not quite as good. That may not be fair - in fact I know it isn't fair - but it is what it is.)

Being honest, I was a bit skeptical about this book. Eleanor seemed like a very strange character and I wasn't sure where the plot would take me. A grown woman having an overexaggerated crush on a musician who doesn't even know she's alive?? It just didn't seem realistic. However, watching her and Raymond's friendship blossom and grow, warmed my heart. Watching Eleanor plummet into depression and having Raymond help her, just made me so hopeful for her future.

This is a book that you should read

I laughed, but mostly I felt bad for her. So sad what she had to go through ... and believe about herself in order to come out on the other side of it. Are there really people like Raymond? I'd be shocked to meet someone like that IRL.
Well written.

Loved Eleanor

I loved this novel. What I loved is that I believed Eleanor exists, in fact I love her bluntness, her naivety and her black and white view of life. The best thing about Eleanor is that she grow and learnt to live life.

Well worth reading. Four and a half stars.
