I’m usually prompt with reviews, but I had to take a few days to absorb Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine. What. A. Voice.

I have never laughed this hard when reading a book. But the really funny thing is- I don’t think the author actually intended to write comedy. It just turns out that way because of the nature of Eleanor’s observations. Eleanor’s an office worker in her early thirties. She does her job well, keeps her interaction with her colleagues to a minimum (primarily because her way o

Well crafted and compelling story line with loveable characters. Eleanor may be one of my favorite characters ever - so much to relate to if you’ve ever experienced tragedy. One of my favorite reads (well, listens) this year.

Definitely wasn't the story I assumed it was - and that was a good thing. It was more emotional and contained a darker humor than I expected and later came to enjoy. In the beginning I honestly wasn't sure if I was going to like Eleanor, but then, I came to realize I think Eleanor disliked herself too. And by the end I was tearing up from happiness as she was too. I pretty much cried through the last 50 pages. It was definitely an emotional roller coaster of twists and personal growth. Little pi ...more

In the end, what matters is this: I survived.

This was difficult to read in many parts, especially when you start piecing together why the main character is so different.

I almost gave up on it but because everyone freaking loves this book, I kept going and it pulled me in. Devastatingly sad but heartfelt and wonderful all the same.

And it had a twist at the end, totally unnecessary but always a bonus. It’s not major but it does cause you to think more about clues you missed earlier in the book.
