Once again Maria V. Snyder brings us a thrilling tale telling of Trella, a head-strong scrub working in the ducts. Indifferent to the uppers living luxuriously above her while she works her tail end off living as a loner with a single friend, Cog. Then she falls--literally--into a change. She befriends Riley, an upper with a matching ignorance about scrubs. She discovers that the uppers aren't all that different. As Riley and Trella ...more

Inside Out takes me back to books that I remember growing up by authors like Andre Norton, H.M. Hoover and even recalls a Bradbury story called "All Summer in a Day". Please don't misunderstand by my comment in saying "takes me back" that there is anything dated or child like about Inside Out in fact the book is the complete opposite. Rather Inside Out evokes the sense of wonder that those authors were able to convey. The story takes you to a place very different than ones own the operates by a

I've read all of Maria V. Snyder's previous adult fantasy books and thought they were among the best I'd ever read. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about her shift to YA and dystopian SciFi--but I loved it! The characters were three dimensional and likable, and her world-building skills are second to none. I highly recommend this book!

More like 3.5 stars. It was good and a good concept, but there just seemed to be something missing, like having a full course dinner but without the meat and potatoes, lol. You do get a small portion at the end but just not satisfying enough. I want a just purpose to the story...i dont want to be left hanging. All this work and sacrifice of the characters for what? It has to be big! My expectations are going to be lower for the second, so i hope it will not disappoint...at least not too much. I

4.5 stars! I really enjoyed the Sci Fi element in this book. It was super fun to crawl around in pipes with Trella and explore the mysterious world of "Inside". Can't wait till Outside In! And thank you Maria for the mention in the acknowledgments. :) Warm and fuzzies!

I was nervous to begin this novel because I wasn't sure I would like it as much as the Study and Glass books, but I was totally wrong. I loved Inside Out. The story was filled with action, the society was very well developed, and the character development was superb. Trella could have been too tough or annoying, but I really dug her. Outside In cannot come quickly enough.

Maria V. Snyder is one of my favorite authors. I love poison study series and yet she surprised me again by a different series that had amazing character development and such a intriguing story line! I can't wait to read the sequel to find out what happens next. So sad about Cog, but love Trella and Riley!
