I wonder if you could love the story but not enjoy the writing so much? Well, I didn't think the writing was that special on this one but I do love the story - I like the unfolding of the plot and I absolutely love how each character has his / her own 'secretive' past who makes them who they are now (this is the highlight for me).

A good start to the new series from Cassandra Clare. This is a prequel to the Mortal Instruments series, and you should really read at least one of those first, as I'm not sure if the world of the Shadowhunters would be totally understandable if you haven't. There's less teenage angst so far in this series and it's perhaps not quite as gripping initially, but still well worth a try. After really enjoying the mortal instrument series, I was not surprised at the high quality of Clockwork Angel. Nathaniel was the most interesting character to me. Or rather, Tessa's feelings and attitude toward her brother Nate were the most interesting part of the story. I loved that the book is set in Victorian London.
