I always want to read more classics, since that's not a genre I read a lot, but when I do I usually don't enjoy them that much...this book is a perfect example of that. It was interesting seeing Griffin deal with the curse of his "invention". I did like the descriptions of the rooms and people, but the way they spoke was hard to understand. Maybe I'd need to reread it to fully get the story, but I don't know if I care enough for that. ...more

I never liked Tom and Jerry much -- it was just too much of the characters chasing each other around and not much of anything else. That's how the first half of this book felt to me -- like Tom and Jerry with humans. My interest increased slightly just before the invisible man starts telling his own story. I still wouldn't say I loved the rest of the book, but maybe I would have liked it as a whole if Wells's editor had cut out the first fifteen chapters.

This is a pretty classic Victorian scifi novel. I feel like this genre is only sort of science-y and mostly is all around the theme of what happens when science goes too far, and how scientific discovery subsumes moral decision making, or something along those lines. You can see that Frankenstein has a similar sort of theme, as does Wells' The Island of Dr. Moreau.

WTF

All it was was numbers and symbols. Bad copy. Ugh, so annoyed. Kept turning pages, hoping to find a story with no luck.
