Oh buddy there sure was a lot of sinning going on but was it fun?????

There is so much that I loved that I'm not even sure where to start! Firstly, after thinking on it, it was definitely a 4.5 star read for me. Gosh, Nora was absolutely fabulous!!! First off this book has been placed in the genre of erotica. I looked up the definition of erotica: explicitly sexual literature. This book is so much more than this! It is complex. It is an excellent, intensely provocative novel. And as soon as you think you know who she ends up with or know everyone’s secrets you don’t. The characters even are so real with their own struggles and complicated pasts. But don't think you wo "When one is a monster, one does well to beware knights in shining armor."

First off this book has been placed in the genre of erotica. I looked up the definition of erotica: explicitly sexual literature. This book is so much more than this! It is complex. It is an excellent, intensely provocative novel. And as soon as you think you know who she ends up with or know everyone’s secrets you don’t. The characters even are so real with their own struggles and complicated pasts. But don't think you won't get incredibly hot erotic sex, because you certainly do. It is very BDSM and very hardcore; some might make you squirm a little but it's good stuff.

Who better to write erotic novels that one of the most notorious Dommes in NYC, Nora Sutherlin. She has experience on both sides of the whip and is therefore highly qualified to write BDSM erotic novels. However her latest novel is not what she usually writes. If there is something that I could recommend to someone preparing to read The Siren it would be to pay close attention to her novel that she is writing. The excerpts are not chosen at random and having a deeper meaning to the entire book as opposed to a glimpse at her writing. It wasn’t until the end that I found I should have read and reread her novel passages. Nora was a character that I did like quite a bit, she is witting and caring and smart. In my head she’s got a little Dita von Teese thing going on with her black hair and pale skin. The problem that I did have with Nora was (view spoiler)

When I started this novel, I was having a hard time trying to understand who the hero was going to be. Was it the ruggedly handsome British book editor, the 19 year old virgin southern gentleman, or Nora’s Danish former owner with a wicked secret? I’m not so sure that even Nora knew. One thing was unmistakably clear, one in particular holds the key to the collar around her heart: Søren.
I really enjoyed reading about Nora’s relationship with Søren, probably more than anything else. There is something about him that I find irresistible. I want to be the girl in the school girl outfit getting flogged. Did I say that out loud?! Needless to say I’m Team Søren. His love for her is immense and I know it killed him to loose her. I liked Wesley and I have several friends who are on Team Wesley. He is a good guy who genuinely cares for Nora and has come to know her on a level that others but not have. They are best friends and the sexual tension can be cut with a knife. What would possess a 19 year old virgin to move in with a 33 year old dominatrix? It definitely is a weird set up but Wes is a good guy, a prince one might say ;)
Kingsley Edge and Griffin Fiske are great additional characters that you find out more about in her prequels, which should be read after The Siren because of big spoilers that lurk within.

I’m the type of reader who gets emotionally invested in the books I read. If you can’t make me feel something within the first couple of chapters, I won’t keep reading. THIS Story had me from go. I felt like I was living someone else’s life the entire time I had my nose in this book. The story was in fact (as Nora says in the book) ‘a love story, but not a romance’. CLEVER WRITING.

I liked this. It wasn't a fast paced, throw me on the floor and make me lick your shoe before you ride me like there is no tomorrow, kind of lust. It was a perfect blend of story telling, mistakes, healing, heart ache, and brutality. It didn't, however, reach out and grab me, holding me on the edge of my seat. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised with the way the words slowly wrapped around my mind and captivated me. CLEVER!
