It drags in places and doesn't live up to the first book. I also wasn't clear on what they were really fighting for. I am also not clear on the rationale given behind establishing the faction system in the first place. Humans were destroying themselves, so they (not clear on exactly who "they" is btw) took people and seperated them into factions based on their personality traits and locked them behind a fence and kept the factions seperate from each other and from the rest of society with the ho ...more

What a great series! Roth takes her readers on a journey that is absolutely amazing in many ways: Love, horror, honor, and strength. This book has the greatest cliffhanger of all times....I did not see that coming at all! I must read on to book 3 and find out the conclusion of this intense episode.
