What a MOVING story about love and rock and roll.

Eliza and Michael are siblings who had to endure the loss of their parents at a young age. Eliza has severe issues with boarding planes as a result of that loss. She is a young music journalist and her brother Michael (who is married to her best friend Vera) is in a band called Bananafish. Paul, the lead singer and songwriter of Bananafish ends up with Eliza as a roommate and then almost simultaneously falls for Eliza (albeit MUCH to Michael's di What a MOVING story about love and rock and roll.

He ends up with a "love at first sight" for Eliza, thus bringing the warm fuzzies, heartache, and complete emotional journey of How to Kill a Rockstar...

I almost stopped reading this book halfway through. Not because I couldn't get into it. No no. That's not why. I almost stopped reading it because I was TO into the book. I read the whole thing in pretty much one sitting and didn't know that so many emotions could be evoked from me at one time!! I had to have some girls in a book club that I'm in, talk me down from the emotional ledge of wreckage I was teetering on and tell me to "Keep. On. Reading." I am SO glad I did too! This book was an extremely emotional journey (as if you couldn't tell yet lol) and it was written so brilliantly! It was witty, sassy, sarcastic, quirky, and romantic in its own special way. I fell in love with the characters and the journeys they embarked upon as well...

There isn't really anything that I didn't like about this book...at all... One of my favorite laugh out loud moments was when Vera called Eliza out to Paul in front of his band and a band they were covering for after a concert they played:

"Hey, Paul. Can you guess when the last time Eliza had an orgasm was?"
"Yesterday," Paul yelled without turning his head from the screen. He nudged Michael.
"You were at lunch."
"That's what you think," Vera chimed in. "She cheated on you with a guitar crate."

I laughed for almost five minutes after reading that scene. If you haven't read this book yet, do yourself a favor and READ it. The heaviness of this book will stay with you for a little bit, but it is completely worth it. I moved on to a lighter read and found a quote in that book that I feel would sum up this book perfectly:

I loved the different POV's in this book. It didn't keep me guessing too long for the other chatacters reactions to the events taking place. I always knew what everyone was thinking and how they felt. I loved that I didn't have to wait for the epilogue or another book to come out next year to find out what I needed to know when I needed to know it. It layed it all down for me and let me focus on the real story. ...more

Had this book on my Kindle forever . . . been seeing great reviews so I thought that I would give it a try - just don't see why. This one did not pull me in. I did not DNF but I don't understand the 5 star reviews. Eliza was not a strong character, Paul was Paul, and Loring was one of the best characters - with Eliza and with his kids. ...more

WOW! WOW! WOW! Totally did not see this one coming! What a fresh breath of air from all the other perfect uber sexy muscular men of all the other books that I have read (not that I dont love those men) But this one grounded me alittle bit. It was true and funny! LOVE!
